Boiler Training with Live Hands-On Lab.
Licensed High Pressure Boiler Operators must have knowledge on a variety of subjects relating to power plant systems including: steam boilers, environmental controls, water treatments, economic devices and safe operation to prevent injury or damage. This includes high pressure and low pressure boilers.
Whether used to control thermal processes or power, steam-production facilities are critical to the success of commercial and industrial complexes, requiring skilled professionals for safe and efficient operation. In the coming years, however, industries requiring boiler operators are facing a serious shortfall. We offer comprehensive, in-depth training that teaches how to operate and maintain boiler systems at maximum safety and performance. If you’re responsible for the day-to-day operation or maintenance of your company’s boiler room—if you’re a maintenance mechanic, supervisor, operating engineer, plant engineer, facilities manager, plant manager or boiler room supervisor—we have a boiler-training seminar that can help. All courses are taught by experts and allow ample time for open discussion about your specific needs. With Hands-On Equipment and live boilers, training material can be demonstrated.
Joining us for the third and final installment of this podcast is the President of ASTI (Ammonia Safety Training Institute) Gary Smith. Gary will be continuing his discussion of the “One Plan Coalition”. In this episode, Part three, Gary covers S.I.M.P.L.E. in detail. If you have any questions for Gary or the Ammonia Safety Institute, you may contact them through the email and phone number below.
Joining us again over the phone is Gary Smith. Gary is the President of ASTI (Ammonia Safety Training Institute). This will be a continuation of the previous cast outlining more of the “One Plan Coalition” emergency response plan. This plan strives to protect life, environment and property. Gary’s vision is to make ammonia the most safely managed hazardous material in the world. In this episode Gary will cover L.A.N.C.E. in detail. Stay tuned as this is only part 2 of a very informative interview.
Today we have the pleasure of speaking with Gary Smith on the phone. Gary is the President of ASTI (Ammonia Safety Training Institute). He took a moment and gave me the rundown of his “One Plan Coalition” emergency response plan. Gary’s one plan is all about keeping a cool head in a heated situation. He formed this coalition to raise awareness of the dangers of ammonia and how to manage them. His goals are to improve safety, emergency response readiness and to reduce ammonia related incidents. Stay tuned as this is only part 1 of a very informative interview.

Go from Cool to Cold in this show when Randy and Jeremy Williams, father and son, share their experience at the Mycom/Mayekawa factory in Japan. Randy and Jeremy see their new Newton 3000 system that uses ammonia and CO2 together in person. This Newton 3000 will be debuted at IIAR. Learn how Randy’s going to -100° below zero only using the air you breathe as a refrigerant. Jeremy shares his experience in the -100° below zero tuna freezer.
Other topics discussed include:
Semi hermetic and internal two stage compressors, critical charge ammonia refrigeration systems, EPA’s GreenChill Partnership (http://www.epa.gov/greenchill), miscible oil for ammonia systems, Pascal air refrigeration systems, ammonia/CO2 brine system efficiency advantages, OSHA statistics on ammonia related deaths and injuries, and Japans delush/diffusion tank technology.
This is Randy Williams President of the Garden City Ammonia Program and we have a great show for you today. Our goal is to bring ammonia refrigeration training to your I-pod or work station. Local, National and International news about Ammonia, CO2, Natural Refrigerants, Boilers and new technologies is one of our focuses. I would like to personally introduce the GCAP team. Kristen Lundy and Erica Duval do all the work behind the scenes as training coordinators. If you give us a shout at 620-271-0037 or e-mail us at firstname.lastname@example.org more than likely you will be in contact with Kristen or Erica. GCAP is proud to have Steve Rucker as Maintenance Mgr. Steve has been with us for over three years and keeps our ammonia refrigeration and boiler training equipment in prime condition for our students. Tyler Ramos is our newest lead instructor, bringing us many years of knowledge and experience. If you take any of the Ammonia Training classes there is a good chance Tyler could be your lead instructor. Next, I would like to introduce my son & Lead Instructor Jeremy Williams. Jeremy started from the bottom years ago and learned in the plant hands on. After deciding that rendering third shift was not where he wanted to stay long term he finished his degree at University of Central Oaklahoma and joined me here at GCAP earning his Lead Instructor Certification. My wife Rachel Williams is Vice President of GCAP and office manager always keeping things running smoothly. And last but not least the two minions that bring you this awesome pod-cast Craig Ward and Kelly King. Craig is an intern from Lakeland Florida and Kelly King is an intern from Garden City, KS. They will continue to bring you online ammonia refrigeration training to your neck of the woods. To share a story call Craig or Kelly at 620-271-0037.
